Day +1 - Inverness to the Lake District
And so its the A9 all the way back to join the M74 and M6 and 3 days in the Lakes.
On a clear night we were hoping to see the Northern Lights again but were a bit too far south now. Even so it was a clear starry night and with some light overspilling from the hotel and a plane flying over it still allowed us to take a long exposure shot.
Just before the sun rose behind the hills to the East and with an early morning cup of tea we enjoyed the clear sky and morning haze highlighting the calm lake before breakfast.
Even into October we were still enjoying beautiful weather with the autumn colours just starting to appear.
A pleasant walk from Howtown towards Glenridding revealed some deeply contrasting views especially as the sun forced its way through.
The beautifully crafted refurbishment of the Great Barn and Waternook from their elevated position looking out to Pooley Bridge. Perfect for fly fishing but we were too late in the season. Maybe next year. Internally we see the solid sandstone stairs set into a hand crafted dry slate wall
